PT CPI Launches a Workforce Development Program

Rumbai, 12 December 2018 – PT. Chevron Pacific Indonesia (PT. CPI) continuously strives to contribute in improving local communities’ social and economic well-being. It is achieved through skills development programs to promote self-reliance and entrepreneurship.


On Wednesday, 12 December 2018, SKK Migas and PT. CPI launched the Workforce Development Program at Politeknik Caltex Riau’s Multipurpose Building in Rumbai, Pekanbaru. The program is aligned with the government priority in building local communities capacity through vocational training and certification programs.

 

"Through these vocational training and certification programs, the participants are expected to have greater opportunities for employment and be more competitive in their businesses," said Sukamto Tamrin, GM Corporate Affairs Assets PT. CPI, in his remarks.

 

The Workforce Development Program consists of the Training and Certification for Heavy Equipment Operator and General Occupational Safety-Health Officer and, secondly, the Vocational Training and Entrepreneurship in fashion design, food processing, computer, automotive, and welding. 

 

PT. CPI is partnering with Politeknik Caltex Riau (PCR) and Institut Kemandirian Dompet Dhuafa (IK-DD) as the implementing partners. In its implementation, the two implementing partners collaborate with relevant government agencies, including the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP), the Provincial and Municipality Manpower and Education Offices.

 

As many as 441 community members are selected to participate in these programs. They are from regions around PT. CPI’s operating area namely Bengkalis, Rokan Hilir, Rokan Hulu, Siak, Kampar, Pekanbaru, and Dumai. This program will run until August 2019.

 

"We view these partnerships as a long-term investment in improving the capability of the Riau community. Through these programs, we want to promote community self-reliance and entrepreneurship,” said Sukamto.

is Workforce Development program is part of PT. CPI’s social investment programs in the area of economic development. Other focus areas are health, education and vocational training, and environment.
